Pre-Kindergarten
PRE-KINDERGARTEN
(4 & 5 Year Olds)
This group consists of our “big kids”. They are comfortable with themselves and with school. They still enjoy much of the play of the preschool and they still need it. But, they are also pre-readers and pre-writers. Again, learning takes place in a variety of ways. They enjoy language, math, science, art, and music. At this age, they can learn more about our world, culture, and geography.
These children do meet many of their own needs and the teachers are always there to lend a hand. At this age they initiate many of their own games and learning activities. They also learn to work through their disagreements with others. Less teacher intervention is needed.
Again, this curriculum is developed from the Massachusetts Standards for Pre-School Learning and the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Developmentally Appropriate Practice.
